What is Awoo.space?
Awoo.space is a small social network where folks are expected to be respectful of boundaries and identities. We have a dedicated team of moderators available to help deescalate conflict and help educate folks on social missteps if they inadvertantly cause harm.
While the Mastodon platform gives its users a great many tools that help to deal with abuse, the nature of federation can expose our users to admins and users on distant instances completely out of their control. To mitigate this possible problem, awoo.space uses a server whitelist to selectively federate with other instances in order to more sustainably grow the network and limit exposure to potential harassment and abuse.
Our vision is to curate a space where folks can be more open with one another while still being able to control their public visibility without being forced to provide emotional labor when folks accidentally step across boundaries.

I'm an instance admin. How do I federate with awoo.space?
We think of Awoo.space as a well-run house party, with other instances as the invitees. We need to trust the folks we let into our party, and we need to know they won't bring along anyone else who will make the party suck for everyone. This is especially a concern given how admins can't always account for the actions of all their users, much less users of other instances they federate with.
With that in mind, here's what we look for when deciding whether or not to federate with other instances:
Your instance has a CoC similar to Mastodon.social's, or you agree with Mastodon.social's CoC and follow its principles while administrating your instance
You understand that your users are subject to awoo.space's CoC while interacting with our users
You're not federating with instances whose administration has a history of ignoring or encouraging abuse of Mastodon users on their platform without a genuine attempt to reconcile the harm done. The instances we're currently particularly concerned about are:

We are willing to make exceptions for these rules for very small closed-registration instances as long as your users all respect our CoC when interacting with awoo.space users and are careful to respect whether or not folks are okay with you boosting their posts.
It's worth noting that due to how private posts federate publicly onto GnuSocial, and therefore potentially boostable, we do not federate with GnuSocial instances at this time.

The following guidelines are not a legal document, and final interpretation is up to the administration of Awoo.space; they are here to provide you with an insight into our content moderation policies:
When interacting with other users, all users both local and remote are expected to adhere to the following:
Respect boundaries as placed by others
Be respectful/apologize if someone tells you that you cross a boundary accidentally
Give people space if you accidentally push past a boundary
If you are on either side of this and are worried about the situation escalating, contact the admin or a mod
Tag potentially upsetting content such as violence/blood, politics, and other such topics
When interacting with other users, any users (local or remote) will be considered in the wrong in a conversation that goes sour if they participate in the following:
Microaggressions ("not all men", white/man/cis-splaining, using the wrong pronouns to address someone after being corrected, etc)
Demanding education on problematic behavior from a non-admin/moderator
Skirting the lines of being a troll
Not tagging potentially sensitive replies
Ableism, such as by calling out names regarding their mental capacity, pointing out behavior as mental illness as an insult, making fun of folks who experience learning disabilities or autism spectrum disorder, have language speaking deficiencies- whether by a condition or by not being a primary English speaker, and making light of any physical disabilities a person experiences
This is not an exhaustive list. If any of these don't make sense or you would like a deeper explanation, please speak with an admin or moderator- we are more than happy to help you understand the problems with these kinds of behavior.

Posts that do not tag upsetting content
Untagged nudity, pornography and sexually explicit content
Untagged gore and extremely graphic violence
The following types of content will be removed from the public timeline, and may result in account suspension and revocation of access to the service:
Racism or advocation of racism
Sexism or advocation of sexism
Discrimination against gender and sexual minorities, or advocation thereof
Xenophobic and/or violent nationalism
Ableism or advocation of ableism, as described above
Arguing with a moderator or admin in bad faith, especially as a new member to the community
The following types of content are explicitly disallowed and will result in revocation of access to the service:
Sexual depictions of children
Content illegal in Germany and/or France, such as holocaust denial or Nazi symbolism
Conduct promoting the ideology of National Socialism
Any conduct intended to stalk or harass other users, or to impede other users from utilizing the service, or to degrade the performance of the service, or to harass other users, or to incite other users to perform any of the aforementioned actions, is also disallowed, and subject to punishment up to and including revocation of access to the service. This includes, but is not limited to, the following behaviors:
Continuing to engage in conversation with a user that has specifically has requested for said engagement with that user to cease and desist may be considered harassment, regardless of platform-specific privacy tools employed.
Aggregating, posting, and/or disseminating a person's demographic, personal, or private data without express permission (informally called doxing or dropping dox) may be considered harassment.
Inciting users to engage another user in continued interaction or discussion after a user has requested for said engagement with that user to cease and desist (informally called brigading or dogpiling) may be considered harassment.

Mastodonの使い方―Twitterとの違いについて
Mastodonの基本的な使い方を、Twitterとの違いという点から書きます。
複数のタイムライン（TL）
Mastodonには3つのタイムライン（TL）があります。
ホーム
TwitterのTLと同等のものです。自分がフォローしたアカウントのつぶやき（トゥート）が表示されます。
ローカルTL
このインスタンスに参加しているユーザのつぶやき（トゥート）が表示されます。フォローしていないユーザのトゥートも表示されます。表示はインスタンスで共通なもので、このインスタンス内の他のユーザも同じものを見ています。
連合TL
このインスタンスの誰かがフォローした他のインスタンスのユーザのトゥートが表示されます。またこの他のインスタンスのユーザ（ユーザA）を起点にした、
ユーザAが返信したトゥート
ユーザAがブースト（Twitterで言うリツイート）したトゥート
も合わせて表示されます（※ここが少しややこしい）。表示はインスタンスで共通なもので、このインスタンス内の他のユーザも同じものを見ています。
Twitterと違い誰もフォローしなくてもローカルTLでこのインスタンス内の他のユーザと交流したり、連合TLでさらに広い範囲のトゥートを見たりすることが出来ます。
つぶやき（トゥート）の公開範囲
Mastodonではつぶやき（トゥート）の公開範囲を次の中から選択します。
公開
ローカルTL（及び連合TL）に表示されます。自分をフォローしている、していないに関わらずトゥートが公開されることになります。
未収載
ローカルTL（及び連合TL）に表示されません。他のユーザに拡散（ブースト）を許可し、ブーストされた際はブーストしたユーザをフォローしているユーザのホームに表示されます。トゥートの拡散はフォロワー伝いになります。
非公開
ローカルTL（及び連合TL）に表示されません。他のユーザに拡散（ブースト）を許可しません。自分のトゥートはフォロワー止まりです。
ダイレクト
宛先を指定したトゥートです。宛先に指定したユーザのみが閲覧可能です。
他のインスタンスのユーザとのつながり
Mastodonはここ以外にもたくさんのインスタンスがあります。リモートフォローをすることで他のインスタンスのユーザをフォローしすることが出来、自分のホーム上やみんなの見ている連合TL上に表示させることが可能です。
リモートフォローの方法
リモートフォローには2つの方法があります。
検索してリモートフォロー
ログイン後の画面から、投稿フォームの上部にある「検索」窓を使います。
検索窓にリモートフォローしたいアカウントの情報を入力します。
「@（アカウント名）@（インスタンスのドメイン名）」
というルールで入力します。これがアカウントのフルネームになります。
パソコンの場合はエンターキーで検索が実行され、結果が表示されます。表示されたアカウントからリモートフォローしたいアカウントを選択します。
選択したアカウントの詳細が表示されます。左上のフォローマークからこのアカウントをリモートフォローすることが出来ます。
外からリモートフォロー
アカウントを選択して表示されるアカウント詳細画面さらさらにもう一回アカウントの画像を選択すると、アカウント単独の画面に移ります。この画面はインスタンスにログインしていない人でも見る事の出来るアカウントを外に公開している画面になります。アカウント公開画面の表示例はこちら
右上の「リモートフォロー」を選択します（※同じインスタンスに既にログインしている場合は表示されません）。
入力エリアに自分のアカウント情報を入力します。
なぜかわからないですが先頭に「@」は不要です。「フォローする」を選択します。
確認画面のような感じでもう一度出てくるので、「フォロー」を選択します。
自分のアカウントのページにジャンプし、リモートフォローしたアカウントが表示されています。左上のフォローアイコンが青色で、フォローしている状態であることが確認できます。
運営主体とか
TwitterはTwitter社が運営していますが、Mastodonはみんなが勝手に運営しています（私もその一人です）。Mastodonに限ったことではありませんが、登録するアカウント情報については万が一何かあっても他のサービスに影響が出ないよう配慮しておく必要があります（具体的にはパスワードを使い回さない等）。
びわ湖丼からのハッシュタグをブーストするアカウントについて
びわ湖丼のLTLから特定のハッシュタグの付いたトゥートをブーストするアカウントを作っています。外のインスタンスとのすれ違いなんかを少しでも減らせればと思い作りました。
びわ湖丼の人は、外のインスタンスの人にも見てもらいたい内容の時には #関西連合 と付けてみてください。

ハッシュタグの付いた最新40件のトゥートをGoogleMap上に表示させるページを作りました。 → びわ湖丼マップ
トゥートをマップに表示させるには
以下の手順でびわ湖丼マップにトゥートが載ります。
びわ湖丼マップを開きます。
現在位置をトゥートする場合
左上のメニューを開き、「現在位置を取得」をタップすると地図上の現在位置にが表示されます。
をタップし、選択されている文字列をコピーします。
任意の位置をトゥートする場合
左上のメニューを開き、「タップした位置を取得[OFF]」をタップすると「タップ[ON]」に切り替わります。
この状態でトゥートしたい地図上の任意の位置をタップし、選択されている文字列をコピーします。
マストドンに戻り、先ほどコピーした文字列をトゥートのエリアに貼り付け、その他内容を入力します。
トゥートされたら、リンクをタップして位置を確認しましょう。

利用される上での注意点
位置情報は個人情報とすぐに結びつく可能性のある情報になります。トゥートされる際はその点を十分ご留意ください。
トゥートを削除することでマップの表示も消えますが、外部の検索エンジンにトゥートが残っている場合があります。
外部アプリからびわ湖丼マップを開く際
外部アプリを利用されている際、トゥートからびわ湖丼マップのURLをタップすると
通常、アプリ内ブラウザが立ち上がります。私が確認した限り、アプリ内ブラウザでは現在位置を取得することが出来ません（アプリによっては取得できるかもしれません）。
この場合、トゥート内のURLを長押しし、メニューから「開く」「ブラウザから開く」といった項目を選択して
ブラウザから開くようにしてください。
インスタンスの状態
このインスタンスの応答状態です。aboutページの表示に掛かった時間をグラフ化しています。
このインスタンスがトゥートをやり取りした数とかです。
